A creative leap. That’s how Katie Roberts-Wood describes the process of making something from start to finish as

she invites you into her world to experience one of the unique hand-linking techniques she uses to make her

clothes. One pattern piece cut multiple times, linked together without a single stitch.

There’s a therapeutic, reflective, almost meditative quality about the ROBERTS | WOOD presentation.

Katie is joined by seven women who share an independent, creative mindset. “I’m interested in how what you wear changes the way you feel,” she says and each of her co-collaborator’s looks is the result of an intimate conversation that touches not just how they look but how they think, how they work, and their states of mind. A series of conversations that were an opportunity to stop and reflect on the importance of their clothes, an exchange of ideas that sparked creative interventions. In some cases, the dress will form a common thread, a piece of the artists’ own life and work, an ongoing story.

This is a collective vision of powerful, intuitive women and a rare insight into their more intimate creative processes. For Katie, it’s a moment to take stock of her journey so far. This collection is autobiographical in references that include a recurring theme around X-Rays revealing the translucent bones and skeleton of a garment, prints taken from Gray’s Anatomy, the textbooks of her scientific background, the love of craft and making, the obsession with how things are made.

Ultimately, this this is a celebration of femininity, independence, freedom of choice, and how such qualities are perceived.
