Jan 2024 - Featured Design - The Bow Patchwork Skirt
We thought we would kick off the year with a new feature… each month we'll shine the spotlight on one of our unique patchwork sewing pattern designs from our collection.

We are kicking off the feature with one of our most versatile sewing design patterns….the Bow Patchwork Skirt. This design is one of our more simple makes and great for confident beginners… you just assemble the patchwork in rows, and simply join the rows together, finishing with a simple elasticated waistband at the end.
We’ve made quite a few versions of this design now so here are a few fabric suggestions to help you find some inspiration….you can really see how fabric selection and combinations can totally change the garment’s personality!
A gradient of soft pastel parachute silks and silk lining fabrics… producing a soft drape effect.

A Midi Length - all black - version with mix of transparent and opaque silk fabrics. Mixing fabrics with different weights and transparencies can achieve a sophisticated but minimal effect. See more images of this version here:
A floral explosion - this version features raw torn strips of neon pink silk scraps inserted into the vertical seams between the ‘bow’ patches. More about how we made this project can be found here:
